A Living Heritage
Sri Venugopala Krishna Temple at Irvathur is one of the ancient temples of the Karkala region, with a history spanning over a millennium. The temple is the Grama Devatha Kshetra for the Irvathur village and holds deep spiritual and cultural significance.
The presiding deity is Sri Venugopala Krishna Devaru, enshrined along with his parivara devatas — Sri Mukhyaprana Devaru, Sri Naga Devaru, and Sri Vyagra Chamundi Daiva. Reconstructed in 2003 with the devotion and support of the devotees, the temple continues its centuries-old traditions of worship, festivals, and service.
